Your Mental Health Matters

Your story matters here. Embrace the uniqueness of your narrative as we navigate through the chapters of your life. Remember, every page turned is a step towards a brighter, more confident tomorrow.

About Me.

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with approximately 10 years of community mental health experience. I graduated from the University of Virginia’s College at Wise in 2012 with my Bachelors degree in Psychology and obtained my Masters degree from Radford University in 2014. I’m certified by the Virginia Board of Counseling to supervise Residents in Counseling and provide individual and/or group supervision. As a trauma-focused therapist, I'm here to help you manage distress, increase coping and relaxation skills, and process your individualized experiences in a safe place. I am also trained in perinatal mental health, so that I can better help you navigate your unique path throughout pregnancy and postpartum - whether that be perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (postpartum depression) or adjusting to parenthood.

As a therapist, I bring a range of specialties to the table, in addition to traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My expertise includes, but is not limited to: Trauma Focused - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Perinatal Mental Health. These specialties allow me to provide a more comprehensive and tailored approach to therapy for my clients.

Trauma Focused - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

An evidence-based treatment approach shown to help children, adolescents, and their parents (or other caregivers) overcome trauma-related difficulties, including child maltreatment. TF-CBT helps children address distorted or upsetting beliefs and attributions and learn skills to help them cope with ordinary life stressors. It also helps parents who were not abusive to cope effectively with their own emotional distress and develop skills that support their children.

Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders (PMADS)

A specialized treatment that focuses on the mental health needs of perinatal women and their partners, as well as the effects of this condition on mothers, partners, infants, and children. Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, also known as postpartum anxiety/depression, are among the most common complications that occur in pregnancy or within the first 12 months after delivery.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

A structured therapy that encourages the patient to focus briefly on a traumatic memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. EMDR is an effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms. EMDR is also a helpful treatment for disorders such as anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences.
